Considerations for McCain’s VP.

1. Joe Lieberman. What a great way to reach across the isle but to select a Democrat as a VP. This is worth it just to imagine how much it would piss off the Democrats.

2. Colin Powell. Gratuitously it takes race off the table as a differentiator, but Colin is a world class leader. The problem is his strength is McCain’s strength- foreign policy, and McCain needs balance on the domestic economic front. Like Lieberman, Powell speaks pretty good Yiddish. (seriously he does, learned it growing up in the Bronx.)

3. Sonny Perdue. The GA governor brings the South, the traditional conservatives and the recognition of administrative experience and strong financial stewardship to the office. Does the party really need help to attract conservatives? Will they really consider another Democratic elitist candidate?

4. Michael Bloomberg. Strong financial experience, strong administrative experience, good communicator, although some consider him a RINO, (Republcian in Name Only). Only in that sense is he too much like McCain.

Given McCain’s age he would be better served to select a familiar name so the voters will not have to learn from scratch about a new leader close to the big seat.
