Those questioning the lack of Obama’s experience have faced intellectual arguments that experience can blind us to new solutions and may guide policy with the wrong questions.

It is not experience that mentally restricts our options, but certainty, arrogance and blind adherence to dogma. Thomas Edison was asked if he thought his failed experiments were a waste of his time. He replied that the failures were necessary to his eventual success. His experience or failures taught what would NOT work.

An organization with no experience is doomed to make the same mistakes again; obstructing progress.

Experience measured in years is meaningless. There is a big difference between 10 years’ experience and 1 year’s experience ten times.

An over reliance on experience is less dangerous than an over reliance on intelligence, but both have caused disappointment. Sound principles and character is more important that either.
