Rep Eric Massa (D-NY) drove a GM Equinox, a prototype fuel cell car, from his home in Corning, NY to DC to promote the alternative energy being developed in his district.

The car’s range was 30 miles shy of the driving distance so he……

… had an SUV tow a second fuel cell car behind him. That SUV took the first fuel cell car back to Corning. He then drove the second fuel cell car to DC, but had a second SUV tow that car back to Corning.

So “to make a point about conservation and energy efficiency, Massa made the equivalent of three trips from Corning to D.C., two of them involving an SUV.”
