So the Federal Government wants to spend billions to offer an incentive to scrap gas guzzling cars.

Of course they want to do it NOW when both scrap prices and gas prices are very low.

The market will take care of this eventually. All cars eventually wear out and they will likely be replaced by more fuel efficient vehicles. Why spend billions to make something happen that will likely happen anyway. Again Congress is pushing to solve problems that are already solving themselves.

I still like the idea to mandate that all vehicles SOLD in the US be flex fuel compatible. That alone would keep a lid on oil imports.
