When my daughter turned 14 her tax rate was supposed to become unattached to mine. Up until then she paid taxes on her modest savings at the same rate as I did.

But they raised the age to become unattached to 18, which she will turn in six months. But now they have changed that to remain attached to my rate until she is out of college.

I am not whining about the taxes, it is not a big factor. But this is two tax increases she has had that was never debated, or covered on any news program. This happens with changes in the depreciation and accounting rules as well as with taxes added to your cable and utility bills.

I wonder how many other hidden tax increases we have had that just appeared without discussion or warning.
