I remain astounded at the economic ignorance of advisors and leaders, recently from the left.

I heard Neal Cavuto grille a Democratic strategist who insisted that that we should increase taxes on the rich and give the money to the poor because the poor will spend their money and the rich, heavens to Betsy, will save their money- insinuating that this has no positive consequence for the economy. Hillary Clinton mirrored the same sentiment when she supported the recent tax rebate.

Can she be so ignorant to be unaware that the rich invest in capital that funds business, hires workers and funds investment pools? Where do those mortgage funds come from? The housing fairy?

Improved consumption is a by product of improved production, not the cause. Wealth must be produced before it can be spent. Producing more increases consumption.

Single rebates like the recent package have no impact on improving production, and thus little sustainable benefit. It is a sugar rush, an economic cocaine high.

The tax rebate is a like a big chocolate cake for an out of shape couch potato. Stimulating production is like a trip to the gym.
