I have no intention of re-entering the gun debate after the tragedy in Las Vegas. All the points have been made before and politicizing it again is just offensive.

I am interested if machine learning and artificial intelligence can predict a problem from simple face photo or retinal scan.  Would requiring such a scan be an imposition on one’s right. This gets to the plot of Minority Report where a criminal is apprehended BEFORE he commits the crime. This may be a much better indicator of a potential problem person than a record of priors.

This opens a new realm of civil rights.  If a person is deemed to be a potential problem how is he to be handled.  Stepped up surveillance, restrictions on gun purchases, or other impositions could be imposed.

It seems we would be more effective finding potentially dangerous minds than trying to limit a single means used to facilitate their derangement. I believe we already have these tools.
